To ensure the safest treatment experience and optimal results, please carefully review the following guidelines before your scheduled CO₂ laser treatment.

 The following conditions may prevent or require postponement of your treatment:

• Pregnancy or Breastfeeding: CO₂ laser treatments are not performed on patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Recent Spray Tan: Skin must be free of spray tan or self-tanning products prior to treatment.
• Chronic Sun Exposure: Patients with significant ongoing sun exposure or recent tanning may not be suitable candidates for treatment.
• Upcoming Vacations: Treatment may need to be postponed if you have upcoming travel involving significant sun exposure, particularly if you are unable or unwilling to consistently use sunscreen and practice strict sun protection.

 5–7 Days Before Treatment

• Discontinue retinol, tretinoin (Retin-A), and other retinoid skincare products on the treatment area.

2 Weeks Before Treatment

• Patients taking spironolactone or doxycycline must discontinue medications two weeks before treatment.
• Do not discontinue prescription medications without approval from the prescribing clinician.

 History of Cold Sores (HSV-1) 

• Patients with a history of cold sores or oral herpes should notify their provider before treatment.
• Preventative antiviral medication, such as Valtrex (valacyclovir), may be prescribed by your primary care physician before treatment to reduce the risk of a cold sore outbreak
